26th PINTAR Roundtable Meeting

On 20 September, 22 representatives from 16 PINTAR companies attended the 26th PINTAR Members’ Roundtable at Dorsett Grand Subang, Selangor.

Among the agenda discussed were Members’ Mid-Year Report 2016, report on PINTAR schools’ 2015 SPM results, PINTAR’s upcoming Celebrity Dodgeball Showdown fundraising event, and new PINTAR initiatives, namely PINTAR core modules for teachers (PCT) and leaders (PCL); special education needs (SEN); science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); and highly immersive programme (HIP).

Participants of the Roundtable were also briefed on the future direction of STEM education in Malaysia by Ministry of Education Deputy Director of Education Planning and Research Division, Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim.

The session was followed by a presentation by PINTAR member, Telekom Malaysia (TM), who shared on SEN programme, Sehari Menjadi OKU, which was held at Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Pekan Tuaran, Sabah, to create awareness among community members on special needs children and their daily challenges, and its new TM 3Ducation programme which promotes STEM among students and enhances their creativity and innovation.

It is hoped that the information shared will be taken into consideration by PINTAR members when they plan and develop future programmes and activities for their respective PINTAR schools.

The bi-annual roundtable organised by the Foundation allows its members and partners the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and experience, and discuss issues that would lead to better programmes for PINTAR schools and influence student outcomes.
