Leadership Programme for PINTAR School Leaders

School leaders from 25 PINTAR Schools were exposed to key essence of leadership and the role they play in achieving the objectives of an organisation, in reference to their perspective schools.
Forty-nine school leaders, namely principals, headmasters
and headmistresses from 25 PINTAR schools, took part in the Leadership
Programme for PINTAR School Leaders (LPPSL) Batch 4 Phase 1, held at the
Vistana Hotel Kuala Lumpur from 17-19 September.
The objectives of the programme was to identify key critical
factors, namely the educational leadership skills, guidance on management
skills, effective communication skills and emotional intelligence, as well as
problem solving and transformation of management skills, which can help school
leaders in leading their respective schools towards effectiveness and
excellence.
During the opening, PINTAR Board of Trustee member, Encik
Sabri Abdul Rahman, urged the participants to understand the essence of
leadership and the role they play in achieving the objectives of an
organisation, in reference to their respective schools.
The workshop was facilitated by a team from the Universiti
Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), which was led by Professor Dr Omar Abdull
Kareem, an associate professor with the Department of Educational Management,
Faculty of Management and Economics of UPSI.
On the final day of the workshop, PINTAR Foundation General
Manager, Puan Norzalina Masom, took the opportunity to reiterate the importance
of quality leadership in transforming school performance.
In a special knowledge and experience sharing session,
workshop participants had a first-hand look at how SK Seri Saujana headmaster,
Encik Mohd Fuad Yusoff, formerly the headmaster of SK Kampung Layau, one of the
pilot Trust Schools under the Yayasan AMIR Trust Schools Programme. Encik Fuad
shared the knowledge, experiences and skills he gained from being headmaster in
the Trust Schools programme for three years. Encik Fuad had adopted the
strategic plan of a trust school for SK Seri Saujana in the pursuit of
producing more holistic students in a conducive and engaging learning
environment. In addition, he shared practical ideas on how PINTAR schools can
implement effective projects at minimum cost.
