PINTAR Action Song Programme - 2nd Phase Training

Twenty of 74 primary schools nationwide, who were selected as finalists of the PINTAR Action Song Final Competition, attended the 2nd and final phase training in Selangor from 21-22 January to prepare them for the competition in March. 

At the training, the teachers learned about the National Action Song Adjudication and had a better understanding of the components being looked at and evaluated. They were also shown videos of different action song teams so that they could evaluate the performances using the score sheet. 

The PINTAR Action Song Programme 2016/17 was in in collaboration with the Performance Management & Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), coupled with the Education Performance and Delivery Unit (PADU) under the Ministry of Education. Started in July 2016, the programme reached out to more than 1,000 students and 150 teachers from 74 schools nationwide. 

The programme comprises training of teachers in Action Song components and culminated in the PINTAR Action Song Competition at the National Level. Among the programme’s objectives were to develop confidence and interest of students in the English language and providing them with an opportunity to engage with the language outside the classroom; develop skills integrating scripting of music and movement with language; and provide a platform for learning in a fun and enjoyable manner.
