PINTAR's 23rd Roundtable Meeting

PINTAR held its 23rd Roundtable Meeting on 17 February 2015 at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar Hotel with the attendance of 33 members from 21 companies. The event is a platform  for PINTAR and its members to get together to share information and experience as well as to network with each other.

Apart from that, the event also featured two presentations from the Ministry of Education to update members on the ministry’s latest initiatives that they may be able to incorporate into their school programmes. Dr. Zaharian Zainuddin, the Timbalan Pengarah Sekolah, Bahagian Pengurusan Sekolah Harian (BPSH) spoke to members on their plans for the Education Transformation Programme at the district level. The presentation was enlightening, as it showed how the Ministry of Education plans to cascade plans to cascade initiatives from the macro level to the individual schools, teachers, and influence student outcomes

This was followed by a presentation by Tn. Hj. Sofian Azmi Tajul Arus, the Head of the Innovation Sector for MoE’s Information Technology and Communications, Curriculum Development Division. Tn. Hj. Sofian highlighted MoE’s efforts to incorporate High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in public schools, and suggested ways members could include HOTS in their school programmes that will create pathways for a more holistic student, as opposed to the previous pedagogy styles that only encouraged student to perform during examinations

The RoundTable is an event organised by the Foundation at least twice a year as a way to increase its members’ capability and capacity, as well as to open up lines of communication between the Foundation and the members that ultimately lead to better programmes laid out for PINTAR schools and influence student outcomes
