PINTAR D’Arts Literacy Programme

PINTAR D'Arts Literacy Programme

PINTAR D'Arts Literacy Programme is an art programme initiative under the "Nurturing Talent" tenet which aims to nurture the creative side of the younger generation by developing both the critical and creative minds

D’Arts Literacy Programme which was first launched in 2012 involves teachers' training in Art Workshops where they learnt new art techniques and media, which they in turn apply the newly acquired skills to teach art in a more interesting and engaging manner with their students. A total of 104 teachers were involved in workshops conducted in Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Penang.

Malaysian Art Book for ChildrenThese workshops were facilitated by artists featured in the 'Malaysian Art Book for Children' (MABC), an arts fundraiser initiative launched on 24th June 2011 in support of PINTAR Foundation. The book is published by Khazanah Nasional Berhad through its Khazanah Heritage & Art Initiative and is designed to encourage creativity and critical thinking in children.

PINTAR D'Arts Literacy Programme also aims at providing the opportunity for rural school children to have access to the creative arts of our own local artists. As part of the programme, an art competition was organised amongst PINTAR schools, culminating in a National Level Competition for students held on 31 October 2012 at National Visual Arts Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. It attracted, in total, 1,226 pieces of artworks from 55 primary PINTAR schools and 7 secondary PINTAR schools nationwide.

PINTAR D'Arts Camp

Malaysian Art Book for ChildrenThe D'Arts Literacy Programme marked another milestone when PINTAR collaborated with UiTM Shah Alam in 2013 to organise a two-day PINTAR D'Arts Camp for students aged 10-12 years old held at the Faculty of Arts and Design, UiTM Shah Alam campus. The 2013 Art Camp attracted a total of 147 students and 38 teachers from 34 PINTAR schools.

The PINTAR D'Arts Camp provides a platform for the students from the underserved communities to unleash their creativity, learn designing skills and discover their talents. They were given the opportunity to learn Arts and Design through hands-on activities ranging from fine arts to computer graphics with the guidance of UiTM lecturers. Students were also taught the art and craft of Batik, designing using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator as well as the art of photography.
