PINTAR Mobile Learning Unit

The PINTAR Mobile Learning Unit (PMLU)

The PINTAR Mobile Learning Unit (PMLU) is a customised vehicle fitted with various educational tools which serves to reach out to PINTAR Students by taking knowledge to them.

The PMLU was the first PINTAR National Programme and introduced in 2009 under the Creativity and Innovation theme. Today, the PMLU has grown to be one of the most anticipated national programmes in the PINTAR Foundation stable.

For 2011-2012, the Foundation launched the PMLU under a new theme called ‘Advocating Responsibility – Opening Hearts, Empowering Minds’ which aspire to nurture PINTAR students’ sense of responsibility and instil good values so they will become not only individuals who succeed academically or become an expert in their fields, but responsible citizens of the country.

Under this new theme, the customized vehicle was equipped with educational activities and information that covered the five segments of Advocating Responsibility: Health, Hygiene, Nutrition, Safety and the Environment. Pop Quizzes and Treasure Hunts were introduced to facilitate the learning process and elevate the interactivity between learning and teaching. The unit travelled to underserved areas and brought knowledge to the students via fun, yet thought-provoking activities.

The year 2011-2012 saw the PMLU visit a total of 126 primary and secondary PINTAR schools and received a total of more than 81,000 visitors which includes students, teachers and parents.

In 2013, the PMLU was revamped to a brand new theme, "Nurturing Talent", and this time there were two units which journeyed to 210 primary and secondary schools across Peninsular Malaysia and received a total of more than 70,000 visitors which includes students, teachers and parents. This new theme aims to help students discover themselves, as well as to encourage and inspire them to become more ambitious by building awareness about different careers/ professions that are possible for their future. This theme will run until end of March 2015.

The PMLU also conducts charity visits to orphanage homes. On top of the yearly school and charity visits, the PMLU made a special appearance in two major carnivals namely Iskarnival 2013 at Nusajaya, Johor Bahru and Karnival Sempena Hari Kanak-Kanak Sedunia, Warga Emas dan Orang Kurang Upaya at Negeri Sembilan. These visits are done with the hope that the benefits of the PMLU is not confined to students of PINTAR schools only, but shared with the general public as well.
