Preparing 2,000 students for their exciting first day of school

As the world comes back to rights post-pandemic, the team at PINTAR Foundation quickly realised that while most parents are preparing to return to work, and their children are eager to return to school, not all students are well-equipped to navigate the new norm. Thus birthed PINTAR’s 1 Kit for 1 Kid campaign in September 2020, a corporate pooled funding programme where funds are used to provide necessities for students to get ready for their first day of school for disadvantaged students across Malaysia.

PINTAR Foundation was successful in partnering with major corporate names like Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), Technip Energies, and Telekom Malaysia in its first year, receiving RM272,000 total cash donations and RM40,000 worth of face masks as in-kind contributions from Top Glove.

From these donations, 1,500 students from 30 primary schools had all they need to safely return to school in March 2021.

PINTAR Foundation continues its efforts to ensure school-going children in marginalised communities are fully equipped and ready to go back to school by launching the second installation of its PINTAR Care initiative, calling for corporate partners to take part in the 1 Kit for 1 Kid campaign, at the end of 2022.

Each PINTAR Care Kit comes with a school bag equipped with a full set of uniform, school shoes, socks, stationery, water bottle, food container, notebook, face mask, hand soap, wet tissue, hand sanitiser, body wash, body sponge, shampoo, and comb to name a few. Sponsored companies were also allowed to include additional items that would benefit the students before school begins.

During the 2022 tranche, four corporate brands and government entity: Yayasan TM, Technip Energies, US Army, and Tenaga Nasional Bhd contributed generously to PINTAR Foundation’s cause and were able to extend the kits to over 1,800 school children in 19 schools across 13 states. The total value of the contributions amounted to over RM285,000. PINTAR Foundation successfully distributed the items to the beneficiary schools and students by end November 2022.

PINTAR Foundation is eternally grateful and delighted that corporate brands recognised the value in taking part of the 1 Kit for 1 Kid campaign, giving us the confidence to carry on the initiative for many years to come.
