PINTAR Foundation (PINTAR) and Aramco Overseas Malaysia (Aramco Malaysia) flagged off the sixth edition of the PINTAR Mobile Learning Unit (PMLU) at KLCC recently.
The PMLU is the most awaited national programme and will begin its tour in peninsular Malaysia in 2024! PINTAR partnered with Aramco Malaysia as part of their STEM-based CSR, to inspire school children on STEM through Sports. Following its hiatus due to the repercussions of the global pandemic, the sixth PMLU returns with the theme: “Game On! STEM: Ready to play, ready to learn”.
The 44-seater coach bus is adorned with vibrant colours of blue, yellow, green, and orange – highlighting various sporting activities on its exterior and the tagline: #gameonstem, ready to play, ready to learn. Its interior, however, underwent a complete overhaul to build five interactive stations including studies and careers in sports, running, football, hockey, and cycling. This year’s theme aims to increase students’ level of interest in the field of STEM, awareness and views on non-traditional STEM-related professions, and the need for STEM-skilled workers in Malaysia.
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are woven into every sport and athletic competition. The ability to tie STEM into real-life application is the best learning connection behind scoring goals, crossing the finish line, and making a slam dunk, where each station in the PMLU will highlight and explore the parallels between STEM and sports.
At its tour’s end, PINTAR Foundation and Aramco Overseas Malaysia hopes to impact 50,000 school-going students in rural, sub-urban, and marginalised communities on the STEM principles in sports, exploring career opportunities in the field.
